MILANO (AIMnews.it) – BioDue, following some articles published by the local press relating to Monacolina K, has underlined that there are no forecasts for staff reduction. Monacolin K is a raw material used for the reduction of cholesterol levels, obtained from fermented red rice and used for the production of food supplements. It has been the subject of an ‘Opinion piece’ by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), which has claimed that it cannot establish what is the daily dosage considered to be safe, an opinion contrary to what the EFSA itself established in 2011. The association Federsalus is promoting the necessary precautions for the proper awareness of the topic for European institutions by presenting clinical studies to guarantee the safety of Monacolin K. Danti and Bonafè are giving support to the reasons for national companies at European level and in particular of BioDue. “The problem is of a general scope for European manufacturers, – explains BioDue’s Vice-President, Enrico Russo – that could have repercussions for the entire market. We are not worried at all about our company, as BioDue is experiencing an important expansion phase regardless of the use of Monacolina K.”
